Two arrested for deadly shooting of a teenage boy outside a Hooters
Two teenagers are accused of shooting 18-year-old football player outside a Nashville Hooters restaurant in an apparent attempted robbery.
Metro Nashville Police announced on Tuesday the arrest of 18-year-old Lorenzo Montelier-Avila and 17-year-old Laran Lumpkin connection with the Saturday night shooting of Hagan Newland. Both have been charged with criminal homicide
Police say Newland was shot in the head and died of his injuries early Monday.

He was counting money inside a car when witnesses say three gunmen tried to rob him.
The victim was a member of the Cheatham County High School football team.
Investigators say they are still pursuing leads in the case.
It is unclear whether the suspects have attorneys.
Montelier-Avila was arrested after being stopped by police while driving a black Mercedes sedan which the authorities say was the getaway car used on Saturday night, according to WSMV.
Police said Montelier-Avila admitted to fleeing the scene with others after Newland was shot.
Montelier-Avila is being held on a $500,000 bond and Lumpkin was booked at a juvenile detention center.
The Cheatham County School District released the following statement Monday morning: 'The entire family of the Cheatham County School District is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own students.
'Our hearts and thoughts are with the family during this most difficult time of mourning. The school district will ensure that students and staff have access to counseling services to help them work through the healing process following such a tragic event.
'Cheatham County Central High School faculty and staff have reached out to the family to offer condolences.'
